One Look

Time has come
For us to talk
Let’s take a little walk
Been watching you
Walk down the street
Hip shake
Wiggly beat
One look was all it took
I got shook

Sexy Eyes soft lips
Ruby red fingertips
Long body tuff walk
Sweet smell cool talk
One look was all it took
I got shook

I want you and that’s true
To go out with me tonight
If we don’t do it now
I’ll be awake I’ll be afright
One look was all it took
I got shook

Over The Horizon

Life doesn’t travel in a straight line
We have curves to clear
Keep your eyes on the horizon
Don’t be shaken by fear

Everything has a season
Time for silence and sound
When it’s dark on the highway
Wait for the sun to come round

May you sail still waters and be upright
When your dreams are tossed and all looks lost
There will still be light
Over the horizon at the end of night
We’ll walk again hand in hand it will be all right

Earth trembles from thunder
Drops of rain pour down
Don’t let the water pull you under
With no one else around

Through this world we traveled
Far across stormy seas
Stars are there to guide us
Sails are made to catch the breeze
May you sail still waters and be upright
When your dreams are tossed and all looks lost
There will still be light
Over the horizon at the end of night
We’ll walk again hand in hand it will be all right

Little Rain

Little rain is falling
Falling on my head
Little rain is falling
Make me jump back into bed
When the sun come out I’ll get up instead

Clock keeps ticking kicking time further on
Sand through the glass flowing slowly going gone
Wind keeps blowing slowing motion to a crawl
Planes continue flying implying they can’t fall

Little sun is shining
Shining down on me
Little sun is shining
Before she sink back in the sea
When morning breaks she’ll come back to me

Candidates promise while upon us chaos reigns routine
Casters keep newsing using language that we read between
Hands continue shaping draping fabrics for Egyptian tombs
Models in enclosures expose suppositions once presumed

Little rain is falling
Falling on my head
Little rain is falling
Make me jump back into bed
When the sun come out I’ll get up instead

Records get cut but end up in the discount bin
Tailors talk about threads aligned to rows they’re in
Eyes envision fixing mixing blue computer screens
Marie Anoinette pirouettes
But now she’s dressed in jeans

Little sun is shining
Shining down on me
Little sun is shining
Before she sink back in the sea
When morning breaks she’ll come back to me

Little rain is falling
Falling on my head
Little rain is falling
Make me jump back into bed
When the sun come out I’ll get up instead

C’est la Vie

I used to pass you every day
Now you never walk my way
My thought is riddled with the words you say
C’est la vie

You ride your bike while you’re on the phone
The lights are on but no-one’s home
You’re always there but you’re all alone
Through the mystery

C’est la vie
will I see you again who knows
We’ll see in the darkest night a candle glows

You told me how you lived in France
People paid to watch you dance
Your body’s hot but your mind’s a trance
C’est finis

Your love was hot and we were caught
A bright beginning for the war we fought
We got what we sought a lot
You’re my fantasy

C’est la vie
will I see you again who knows
We’ll see in the darkest night a candle glows

I dropped the bread on your record deal
I produced all you did was steal
You fantasized I kept it real
Hey merci

I used to pass you every day
Now you never walk my way
My thought is riddled with the words you say
Adios baby

C’est la vie
will I see you again who knows
We’ll see in the darkest night a candle glows

C’est la vie
will I see you again who knows

My Light

I play your music on my own
Your rhythms deep in my bone
You supported what I chose to do
Your encouragement pulled me through

You give all your heart to those you love
Inspired me to push above
Your spirit makes me strong
With you I’ll always belong

By the cold night’s moon you are my light
Out in the unknown you give me might
When I look inside what there is to see
You built the foundation of me

You gave me a life I’m blessed to live
If I don’t show it know I’m so appreciative
It may not be easy this family endeavor
Bur thing’s worth having we work on forever

You make the world better by your action
Give me a feeling of satisfaction
Your spirit makes me strong
With you I’ll always belong

My love is yours and yours is mine
Thank you for the light I’m going to let it shine

By the cold night’s moon you are my light
Out in the unknown you give me might
When I look inside what there is to see
You built the foundation of me

You are my light
You are my light
You are my light

My Family

Although our family might be small
Our house is covered wall to wall
With pictures of us all together
Engraved in memories to last forever

Inscribed in each photographic thought
A love so strong it must stay caught
Time has made some pictures fade
But the love has more than stayed

I wonder what life would be
Without my family’s love with me
I think my head would start to stall
Without you here to catch my fall
Taking this time to tell you now
Your importance to me and exactly how
Without regret or sadness too
I’m sure you know it but I love you

I hold your love when I feel I’m falling
Rush to your arms when I hear you calling
When I’m with you the world is right
No longer fearing the dark of night

Though I’ve been broke and knocked down before
No more confusion walking through your door
You showed me how to lead with my heart
There I know we’re never apart

I wonder what life would be
Without my family’s love with me
I think my head would start to stall
Without you here to catch my fall
Taking this time to tell you now
Your importance to me and exactly how
Without regret or sadness too
I’m sure you know it but I love you

Without regret or sadness too
I’m sure you know it but I love you

Out Of This World

I want to know how it feels to feel you let go
I want to be the one to make you let go
I just lost track of time
When I’m with you I go out of my mind

And I’m out of this world somewhere in space
When I’m with you it’s some other place
Like up in the stars with Venus and Mars
And I don’t want to come down
When I’m with you I’m out of this world

I want to dream the dream that you dream at night
I want to feel the wind as we take off in flight
Lying underneath the midnight skies
All the stars are shining there in your eyes

And I’m out of this world somewhere in space
When I’m with you it’s some other place
Like up in the stars with Venus and Mars
And I don’t want to come down
When I’m with you I’m out of this world

Got up in plenty of time to start a new day
But staring at this coffee cup time slipped away
I called to say I’d be in soon
When I find my way down from the moon

And I’m out of this world somewhere in space
When I’m with you it’s some other place
Like up in the stars with Venus and Mars
And I don’t want to come down
When I’m with you I’m out of this world

Black Crow

Black crows fly by my window
Little white seabirds fly by too
I heard them conversate
About the false and the true
Crows talk a lot
Run in flocks like some birds do

I need a little drink of water
I’m as dry as a rolling stone
I need a little drink of water
I’m as dry as a rolling stone
Been a long time traveling
Now I don’t feel so all alone

Sundown’s coming
Morning was a long time ago
Everything in between
Had a feel and had a flow
Like a bright white light
Shining in a big blue bowl

Late in the evening
Sun set a while ago
Starlight in the inky black night
Dropping down to way below
Stop crying honey
Tears are only rain to make love grow

When they walk we stand
When they stop we run
Band of gypsies rock and roll
Halfmoon floats on the horizon
Like a boat in a big black bowl
Sailing out to find the sun

Black crows fly by my window
Little white seabirds fly by too
I heard them conversating
About the false and the true
Crows talk a lot
Run in flocks like some birds do

Out to find the sun
Rain to make love grow
Sky’s a big blue bowl

School Rap

My man
Shakespeare
You know he had the way to write it
Original he could take a rhyme and get inside it
No cliches good with the soirees
Pumping up the show back before they had the PAs
Word play rhyme meter literary eloquence
All the participants
With linguistic incidence
Kids are checking it
Expecting it to stimulate
Rip a smooth groove
Something they can emulate

Vocabulary you can get it from the dictionary
If you don’t use it you wind up abusing it
mispronouncing it and then you bruise it
Imitate fashion then you lose it
Literate to liberate improve the delivery
Knowledge from the college that’s my proclivity
Get into the classroom learn to get your lesson done
Pay attention to retention did I mention having fun

You know you have to go to school
To learn to read and write
Get up early brush your teeth
Do homework at night
If you want to get somewhere
It take much more than looks
Music fashion style’s cool
But you’ve got to hit the books

Mathematics can’t be static
Government works when you become democratic
History reveals the mystery
we can learn from the past how bad a fist can be when it’s
raised up but resist the fascist
backlashes when the power clashes
Educate elucidate classmate contemplate
Turn on the light right so you can concentrate

Tick tack talk easy to be braggin hangin out while your butts are draggin
Reading and writing I respect it
Being out on the streets I neglect this
Practice get this put it on your checklist
twenty minutes daily and you can effect this
progress success procrastinating parrots
If you want to harvest you have to plant carrots

Sound and fury
Signifying nothing
Just another hole you can roll your brain in
Talking about, You know what I’m saying
No! Put it into words or else you’re playing
Describe it give it a texture
Inspire it and add it to the mixture
Be scientific and decisive
original not derisive

In order to obtain utmost satisfaction
Expand the basis of your thinking action
Hittin’ like Sting while
the star is rising
Do the Jaguar thing, advertising
Innovation not recreation
Without it you’re stuck in in the late rotation
And I hope you can dance and carry a tune
Cuz what you put in your soup ends up in your spoon

You know you have to go to school
To learn to read and write
Get up early brush your teeth
Do homework at night
If you want to get somewhere
It take much more than looks
Music fashion style’s cool
But you need to hit the books

Butterfly Tree

If I had a butterfly tree
I’d bring all my friends with me
To watch the butterflys flutter by
On my butterfly tree

If a had a bumblebee farm
I’d keep all my friends from harm
And watch the bumblebees as they swarm
On my bumblebee farm

Maroon and blue orange and green
Purple and pink and colors in between
Yellow and red in my head
All my butterfly friends

If I had a polar bear ranch
I’d teach all my friends to dance
And watch the polar bears as they prance
On my polar bear ranch
If I had a butterfly tree
I’d bring all my friends with me
To watch the butterflys flutter by
On my butterfly tree

Runaway Train

When I was a younger lad
We lived in a rental pad
Exposition Boulevard LA
I heard the train at night rocking left and right
That rolling rhythm carried me away

My daddy’s brother came by
With a twinkle in his eye
Playing on his big twelve string
He showed me Oh Susanna Fannin Street and Old Hannah
And old Hank gave me country swing

I’m a runaway train like thunder before the rain
The camel’s crawling too slow
I feel the fire flicker glow
We’re rocking and rolling like a runaway train

Now we can pick our guitars rock the whole bar
Get into the getaway machine
On route sixty six two lanes through the sticks
To catch a train down to New Orleans

The Mississippi’s wide but I crossed the other side
And spit into the middle of the stream
Chicago was cold New York felt old
Lost in a downtown dream

I’m a runaway train like thunder before the rain
The camel’s crawling too slow
I feel the fire flicker glow
We’re rocking and rolling like a runaway train
Oh look out

I dig it when it’s jumping
Dancers beating bodies bumping
Saturdays burning down the place
Fingering a Fender
Her neck sleek and slender
Jammin’ with my friends in my face

I’m a runaway train like thunder before the rain
The camel’s crawling too slow
I feel the fire flicker glow
We’re rocking and rolling like a runaway train
Like a runaway train

She Sang Hymns

She sang hymns out of tune
And carried a yellow balloon
She traded her love for a Spanish doubloon
And danced in the thin light of a three quarter moon

I have a clock on the wall
It keeps time but that isn’t all
It tells me how long she’s been gone
Gone like the darkness from the light of a dawn

She lived in a sorcerer’s room
And pounded the table and brandished a broom
She turned to ten thousand when she touched the moon
And danced ‘neath a night sky entranced by a tune

Rain fell and scattered away
The old antique caretaker’s children at play
Early that morning she passed away
And was laid to rest on a gray dreary day

She sang hymns out of tune
And carried a yellow balloon
She traded her love for a Spanish doubloon
And danced in the thin light of a three quarter moon
